I'm Marcelo, a backend engineer from Brazil, now living in Berlin.

I've spent most of my career close to money: payment systems, ledgers, reconciliation, and Open Finance, across fintechs and one of Brazil's largest retail groups. I'm drawn to the unglamorous parts that are easy to get wrong, like idempotency, concurrency, and making sure the numbers still add up at the end of the day.

These days I'm the founding developer at Pinnipedia, building a compliance platform on FastAPI, Neo4j, and Kubernetes.

I write here about two things I know from the inside: building payment and Open Finance systems, and figuring out life as a Brazilian developer navigating Germany, from the code to the Finanzamt. Notes from someone still learning in public.
